Moderation & safety

Who's in charge
Each server's own staff run moderation there. Liora gives them tools and does the tedious watching, but people make the calls: a server's moderators and admins decide who gets warned, muted, jailed, kicked or banned. Liora can pass a concern on to staff, but she never punishes anyone on her own judgement. When an admin asks her in chat to kick, ban or time someone out, she only does it if that admin really has that permission on Discord. The automatic protection below is the exception: it holds someone back for a short time, or follows rules the server itself set, until staff can look.
The tools staff get
- Warnings and strikes: each warning adds a strike, and every server sets its own ladder of what each strike means (a warning, a timeout, a kick, a ban). You're told by DM what happened, why, and what the next strike would mean.
- Mute, kick, ban, jail: jail sets your roles aside until you're pardoned, then gives them back.
- Report to Staff: anyone can right-click a message and report it. The report goes to that server's staff log, with who reported it and why.
- Tickets: a private channel between you and the staff. When a ticket closes, you get the transcript by DM and a copy goes to the staff's ticket log. Liora doesn't keep her own copy.
- Logs: staff can have Liora post edits, deletions, joins, leaves, role changes and moderation actions in their log channels, sometimes with an image of the messages involved as proof.
When Liora speaks up herself
If Liora sees something in a conversation that the staff should know about, she passes it on to that server's owner and admins, who can dismiss it or turn it into a warning. Until Liora goes public she also sends a copy to her small team, because every server she's in right now belongs to friends who asked for that help. Once she's public, reports go only to that server's own staff. Nobody outside the server sees them.
Automatic protection
Each server can adjust these on the dashboard. Apart from the optional spam filter, none of them ever time out a server's staff, but a scam link from a staff account is still deleted, in case that account was hacked.
- Account age, blacklist and verification (if the server sets them up): accounts that are too new, or on the server's own blacklist, are removed with a message explaining why. A server can also require members to verify before they can use Liora's commands.
- Liora's blocklist (closed beta): while Liora is in her closed beta, her creator Bliss keeps one blocklist for every server she's in. Anyone on it is removed as they join any of those servers, with a message saying so, and only Bliss can change it.
/privacy mydatatells you if you're on it. Once Liora is public, each server keeps its own list again. - These checks are for people. A bot that a server's staff add is not removed for having a new account and is not marked as unverified: it can't verify, and it can't be sent the message explaining why. Layla, Liora's friend, is given the server's verified role when she joins, so the two can play.
- Liora's blocklist (closed beta): while Liora is in her closed beta, her creator Bliss keeps one blocklist for every server she's in. Anyone on it is removed as they join any of those servers, with a message saying so, and only Bliss can change it.
- Raid mode: if lots of accounts join at once, new arrivals get a 60-minute timeout and invites pause until things calm down.
- Scam links: fake Discord or Steam links are deleted and the sender gets a 10-minute timeout.
- Invite floods: 3 invite links in 30 seconds are deleted, and the sender gets a 60-minute timeout. Staff are shown what happened and decide whether it deserves a ban.
- Hacked accounts: the same message posted in several channels within seconds gets a 60-minute timeout. Liora also tells the person how to secure their account.
- Spam and word filters (off unless a server turns them on): very fast or repeated messages get a short timeout, and a server's own list of banned words flags messages for staff to look at.
- Impersonators: staff are warned when someone copies a staff member's name or avatar.
- Safeguard (its own page: Safeguard): personal details and IP-grabber links are taken down, threats of swatting or doxxing are flagged to staff with a locked copy kept, and accounts on Liora's safety watchlist are flagged when they join.
- Sentinel: if a staff account suddenly starts deleting channels, removing roles or banning people in bulk, Liora stops that account and alerts the server owner. The usual cause is a hacked or rogue admin account.
- Recovery: Liora saves a daily copy of the server's layout (channels, roles, who holds which role) so a wrecked server can be put back.
- Owner approval: loosening protection or undoing a lockdown needs the server owner's OK, sent to them by DM.
Timeouts end on their own. Liora never bans anyone automatically. A ban is always a person's decision.
What she keeps
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| Your strikes and warnings (who gave them, why, when) | So a server's strike ladder works | Strikes fade after 6 months with no new one; each entry is deleted after 2 years |
| Saved roles while you're jailed | To give them back | Until you're pardoned |
| Reports Liora passed on to staff | So staff can settle them | Up to 30 days after they're settled |
| Recent messages in servers | So staff can see what was deleted or edited | 7 days |
| Open tickets (channel and who opened it) | To run the ticket | Until it closes |
| Your roles in the daily server layout copy | To give roles back after a server is wrecked | 7 days |
| A Sentinel lockdown on your account | So a hacked account stays stopped, even after a restart | Until a server's staff lift it |
| Encrypted backups of the records above (never the recent-message cache) | In case something breaks | 14 days |
Anything Liora posts into a server's own channels (logs, reports, transcripts) belongs to that server, and its staff decide how long to keep it.
Your control
/privacy mydatashows your strikes, reports about you, whether you're jailed or locked down, and where your roles are saved./privacy forgetmeremoves your roles from the layout copies, and removes your name from any report you prompted. Moderation records stay, because letting someone erase their own warnings would defeat the point. They follow the time limits above instead.- Leaving a server doesn't wipe your strikes. They fade on the same schedule as everyone else's.
- If you think a warning was unfair, talk to that server's staff: they can clear it.
The lines
- Don't abuse reports or tickets to harass people or flood staff. Reports are rate-limited and staff can block people from filing them.
- Staff: use the tools fairly. Sentinel watches staff accounts too, and the server owner is told about big changes.
