Setting up Liora
A friendly guide for server owners and admins, from "just added her" to "everything the way you like it".
Everything here happens on laltima.com, Liora's dashboard, unless it says otherwise. Every page mentioned is in the dashboard's menu. Anything to do with people's information is explained in Liora's policies.
1. Getting started
- Invite Liora. On laltima.com, press Invite Liora, choose your server, and approve. She's in a small closed beta, so if all the beta spots are taken she'll say thank you, explain, and step out again.
- Say hello. Liora introduces herself in your server, and sends the owner a private message with a short setup checklist.
- Log in. On laltima.com, press Log in with Discord. You'll see a card for each server you can manage (you need to be the owner, or have Administrator or Manage Server).
- Pick your server and you're in. The button takes you back to your servers any time.
Get the app: on your phone, use your browser's "Add to Home Screen" (or "Install") on laltima.com. The dashboard opens in its own window, like an app.
2. The first ten minutes
These are the things that matter most. Liora's checklist tracks them for you: type !setup in your server any time to see what's done (), what's still needed () and what's optional ().
| Step | Where | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Put Liora's role at the top | In Discord: Server Settings → Roles → drag Liora above all the others | So every feature can work (see below) |
| Pick Liora's main chat channel | AI Chat → General/Main Chat Channel | So she knows where to hang out and welcome people |
| Set your staff roles | Moderation → Moderator Role and Admin Role | So she knows who your staff are |
| Turn on 2FA for moderators | In Discord: Server Settings → Safety Setup → Require 2FA for moderator actions | Then a stolen password alone can't ban people or delete channels |
| Pick a welcome channel | General → Welcome Channel | Where she greets new members |
| Make a private security log | Security → Logging Channels | Where alarms, confessions' senders and invite info go. Only staff should see it |
| Pick a level-up channel | XP & Leveling → Announcements Channel | Where level-ups are announced |
| Pick a birthday channel | Birthdays → Birthday Announcements Channel | Birthdays, wedding and server anniversaries |
| Turn on Embers | XP & Leveling → Role Shop card, or /economy enable | For /daily, cosmetics, marriage and games |
| Turn on the weekly recap | Weekly Recap | A cosy "This week in your server" every Sunday |
Why Liora's role goes at the top: Discord only lets Liora give out or manage roles that sit below her own, and only lets her step in against accounts ranked below her. With her role at the top she can hand out colour, level and reaction roles, jail and un-jail people, and, most importantly, Sentinel can stop a hacked or rogue admin account. If her role sits lower, those parts quietly stop working for anyone above her. Don't worry: she still only acts when your staff (with the right Discord permissions) ask her to, or when your own protection settings say so, and she never bans anyone on her own.
!setupreminds you if her role slips down.
When you've changed anything, press Save Settings (the gold button that appears when there's something to save).
About her AI chat: Liora's AI conversation is off by default, and only Liora's creator, Bliss, can switch it on for a server. Everything else works without it. Ask in The Agora if you'd like it for your server.
3. Keeping your server safe
Liora's protection is mostly on by default, and it only does things that undo themselves (timeouts end, paused invites come back). Turning protection off needs Administrator, and the owner is told.
- Shield (on by default)
- Detect join raids: when lots of accounts join at once, new arrivals are held and invites pause.
- Remove scam links and Catch hacked accounts.
- Warn staff about lookalikes of your staff, owner or Liora.
- Daily snapshot of roles and channels, so
!restorecan rebuild after a nuke.
- Security
- Gatekeeper: removes accounts younger than your Account Age Limit.
- Logging Channels: where each kind of alarm goes.
- Anti-Spam: fast-message timeouts (off unless you turn it on).
- Blacklist & Strikes: your blacklist, and your strike ladder (what the 1st, 2nd, 3rd strike means).
- Verification: make newcomers verify before they get in. Pick a Verification Type, then the roles and time limit.
- Moderation: your staff roles, a word filter, and Activity Logging (edits, deletions, role and channel changes, voice, nicknames), each with its own log channel.
- Tickets: a private support channel between a member and your staff. Pick the panel channel, a category, the support role and a log channel, then press Spawn Panel Message.
Staff also have the usual commands in Discord (/info lists them): warnings and strikes, timeouts, kicks, bans, jail, and more. See Moderation & safety.
4. Community & fun
Turn on what fits your server. Most features start off, so nothing surprises your members.
XP & Leveling
- Switch on the Master XP Toggle, then chat XP, voice XP and the optional Conversation Bonus.
- Double XP Rotator: each day one channel gives double XP. Choose which channels can (or can't) be picked.
- Channel Level Locking: channels that open up as members level up, and which channels earn XP at all.
- Staff Restricted Channels: channels that stay staff-only whatever members' levels are.
- Role Shop: members buy roles with levels or Embers. Roles with staff powers can't be sold; Liora refuses.
- Member XP & Levels: search members and fix someone's level or XP by hand.
Embers, marriage & Domination
- Embers (turn on in the XP page's Role Shop card, or with
/economy enable) power/daily, cosmetics, companions and marriage. They can only ever be earned, never bought. - Marriage works once Embers are on:
/marry propose. Pick a Wedding Channel on the AI Chat page if you want her to celebrate there. - Domination: married couples lead Families and compete in 4-week seasons. Switch it on, pick an announcement channel, and set the recruit and switch cooldowns. Optional Widow/Widower roles.
Reaction Roles
Create a panel: pick a channel, write the message, choose emojis and roles, and post it. Members react to get a role and unreact to lose it. Connected Color Roles keep colour roles one at a time.
🎨 Role Menus
One clean card with a button for each kind of role. A button opens a menu that only that member can see, with their own roles already ticked, so there are no reactions to count and no limit of 20 emojis.
- Build a card: pick a channel, give it a title and a few words, then add buttons. Start from a ready-made menu (Colour, Continent, Time & Language, About You, Reach Me, Interests, Play & Create, Debate Style, Pings) and change what you like, or build your own.
- Roles: pick ones you have, or type a new name and Liora makes it when you post, with no permissions at all. Roles with staff powers can't go on a card.
- Icons: every button and every choice can wear one of Liora's gold icons, a colour role's own ember, or any emoji.
- One at a time is for things like a colour or a continent: picking one swaps out the other.
- Changing a card: press Change it. Save in place, or post it as a new message so it has no "edited" mark.
- It shares the Reaction Role System switch on the Feature Toggles page.
Birthdays & Weekly Recap
- Birthdays: turn it on and pick a channel. Choose Liora's playful wishes or write your own (
{mention}and{user}work). Members add theirs with/birthday set. Celebrate Anniversaries covers weddings and "years in the server". - Weekly Recap: turn it on and choose where it posts. Try it any time with
!recap preview.
Music
Members play music with /play, or on the web player. On the Music Player page you can set DJ mode (only DJs control playback, everyone else votes to skip), the default volume, queue size and longest song.
🗣️ Text to Speech
For people in a call who can't or don't want to talk. On the Text to Speech page, switch it on, then choose what Liora reads: each voice channel's own chat, a text channel you pick, or both. Anyone in a call can use /tts say, pick their voice with /tts voice, and stop her with /tts stop. With music playing she speaks over the song.
Quote Cards & Confessions
- Quote Cards: pick a channel where cards go. Members make them with right-click → Apps → Quote It.
- Confessions: turn it on and pick a channel. Members use
/confess. Other members can't see who sent one; your staff can, in the security log, and members are told so.
Liora's Library
Want new people to find your community? On the Library page:
- Press Join the Library (owner only).
- Pick a shelf, say who your server is for (18+, 16+ or 13+), add tags, and approve a blurb (Liora can write one for you).
- Set Newcomers per hour, and choose whether Liora may recommend other servers in yours.
Your server needs verification or the Gatekeeper, and Liora for 14 days, before it shows up. During the closed beta, only The Agora can be joined through the Library; other cards show but can't be joined yet.
General
Welcome and goodbye channels, a role for everyone who joins, auto-threads in busy channels, and Conversation Icebreakers that post a question when things are quiet.
5. Handy staff tools
- Announcements: post messages or embeds as Liora, edit her old ones, and save templates.
- Flash & Dash: media in a chosen channel is deleted automatically after a delay.
- Bulk Role Creator: make lots of roles at once.
- Spam Sweeper: clean up a channel.
- Server Tools: XP maintenance, the muted role, and permission checks.
- Server Health: activity, busiest hours, most-used commands, and tips for your community.
- Fresh Start (owner only): gently clear out quiet members, with a kind note and an invite back.
6. Good to know
- Who can change settings: the owner and anyone with Administrator or Manage Server. Liora's team (Bliss and Mother, nobody else) can help on any server's dashboard; their changes are labelled in your security log.
- Every change is logged in your security log, and the owner is told if protection is loosened.
- Making Liora leave: General → Danger Zone → Leave Server (owner only).
- Stuck? Type
!setupto see what's missing,/infofor commands, or ask in The Agora.
Welcome to the family.
