Giveaways
What it does
A server's staff can run a giveaway with /giveaway start: a prize, how long it runs (a minute to 30 days) and how many winners (up to 20). Liora posts it with a Join button. Press it to enter, and press it again to leave. When the time is up she draws the winners and names them under the giveaway.
Staff can also end one early (/giveaway end), draw someone new if a winner doesn't claim the prize (/giveaway reroll, for 30 days after it ends), or call it off (/giveaway cancel). Giveaways are on unless a server's staff switch them off in her dashboard.
Fair and safe
- Every entry has the same chance. Winners are drawn with the computer's secure random numbers, and nobody, staff included, can choose or nudge who wins. Nobody can win the same giveaway twice.
- Who can enter: anyone except bots, as long as they have the role or the level the giveaway asks for (if it asks). In a server with verification set up, you need to have verified first, so alt accounts and raiders can't crowd out real members.
- Winners are drawn from the people who entered and are still in the server and still meet the requirements.
- Only the winners are pinged. Liora doesn't hand out prizes herself: the giveaway says who to message to claim it.
What she keeps
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| The giveaway: the prize and its note, where it was posted, who started it, when it ends | To run it and draw it | 30 days after it ends (a day, if it was called off) |
| Who entered, and who won | To draw the winners, and to draw again without picking a past winner | 30 days after it ends |
/privacy mydata shows the giveaways you're in and the ones you won or hosted. /privacy forgetme takes you off every giveaway (entries, wins, and your name as the host). The giveaway messages themselves are ordinary Discord messages in the server, so the staff can delete them.
