Age & safety

Liora is made for adults
Liora is built for adults (18+). Her duty is to help protect the servers she lives in and their people, but she isn't a babysitter. Server owners decide who can join their server and which channels are age-restricted, and they're responsible for keeping those settings right. Liora says this when she joins a server, and in her setup message to the owner.
How she keeps things safe
- Outside age-restricted channels, she keeps everything clean. No sexual content, and no "hypothetical" or roleplay versions of it, whoever asks. This includes DMs.
- If someone tells her they're under 18, she stays strictly wholesome with them, everywhere, always, age-restricted channels included. That means nothing sexual, suggestive, flirty or romantic, and no loopholes like "it's just a hypothetical". She stays friendly; she just keeps it clean.
- It's not only an instruction. Google's own filter for sexual content stays switched on in every channel that isn't age-restricted, and always for anyone who has said they're under 18, so it's backed by a hard block even if someone tries to talk her into it.
What she can and can't know
Liora notices when someone says they're under 18 anywhere in her servers ("I'm 15", "I'm in 9th grade", "I'm a minor"), not only in messages to her. But she can't verify anyone's real age, she only understands English for this, and she doesn't read images or voice chat for it. That's why the hard content filter applies to everyone outside age-restricted channels, and why server owners' own age settings still matter.
The server's staff decide
The first time Liora notices someone in a server saying they're under 18, she quietly lets that server's staff know in their staff log: who, a short quote, a link to the message, and a snapshot of that moment in the chat (the message highlighted, with a few messages before and just after it, so staff can see whether it was a joke). The snapshot is only posted there; it isn't kept anywhere else. People joke and troll, and staff know their members best, so moderators and admins can:
- press "They're an adult" if it was a joke or a troll. The note is cleared and Liora goes back to normal with them, and the alert records which staff member made that call;
- press "Keep it" to confirm she should stay careful;
- use
!agecheck @memberany time to check or clear it.
If someone keeps saying they're under 18 after it was cleared, the note comes back and staff hear about it again.
Adults-only servers: the 18+ door
Some servers (like The Agora) are for adults only and switch on Liora's 18+ door. There, picking 🧸 Under 18 in the age menu means Liora:
- thanks you for being honest and sends you a message explaining why;
- gently shows you out of the server (a kick, not a ban);
- lets the server's staff know.
If you come back within a year, she shows you out again. Staff and the server's owners are never shown out. If you tapped it by mistake, the button on her message asks the staff to check, and they can open the door again with !agegate open.
What she keeps
| What | Why | How long |
|---|---|---|
| A note that someone told her they're under 18 (and when) | So she keeps things wholesome with them | 1 year, then deleted |
| That you picked Under 18 in an adults-only server, and when | So its door stays closed until you're old enough | 1 year, then deleted |
Nothing else about age is stored: no birth dates and no guesses.
Your control
/privacy mydatashows whether that note exists, and whether an adults-only server's door is closed for you./privacy forgetmedeletes the note. It doesn't open a closed door: that's a safety record, like a moderation note. The server's staff can clear it early.
The lines
Trying to get sexual content from Liora outside age-restricted channels, or trying to involve minors in anything sexual at all, will get you blocked from Liora everywhere and reported to Discord.
